Recognition of engagement with global languages and cultures through academic courses and extracurricular activities

The GEC was incepted as an academic initiative rewarding students in all colleges for their engagement in language study. It served to acknowledge that the study of languages and cultures can take many forms in the classroom and beyond. With this initiative we hope to increase participation in on-campus events and activities as well as enrollment in classes particularly by students outside of Arts & Letters who do not have a language requirement.
