Japanese (Supplementary Major)
For the supplementary major, students must complete 24 credit hours, including third-year Japanese. 10xxx-level language courses and University seminars on Japan-related topics do not count toward the supplementary major.

At a minimum, students must complete third-year Japanese or its equivalent. A maximum of 2 credits from language reading courses beyond the first-year level that carry fewer than 3 credits may be applied toward the requirements for the supplementary major in Japanese. | ||

In addition to the language course requirements, all supplementary majors must take at least two upper-division 3-credit courses in Japanese literature or Japanese culture taught by EALC faculty. Any exception must be approved by the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Remaining credit hours may be satisfied by taking additional Japanese language and culture courses, or other East Asia-related courses approved by the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
