Medieval Studies (Minor)
The Minor in Medieval Studies allows students who are committed to other programs of study to pursue interests in the culture of the Middle Ages and to cross the limits of individual disciplines as a means of understanding the changing social, economic, legal, intellectual, and artistic systems of medieval society.
Students may declare their intention to undertake a minor in Medieval Studies to the director of undergraduate studies at any time before the end of their third year. The undergraduate director will then act as their minor advisor and help them select a set of courses that form a coherent program of study, often in conjunction with their major. Students are required to take five courses, including the introductory course and four electives in Medieval Studies drawn from at least two of the affiliated units. One of these electives must be an advanced seminar (40000-level or above). Courses counted toward a student’s major may not be used for the minor.
