Business Analytics (Major)

The Business Analytics major prepares students to be data-driven problem solvers and decision makers in an increasingly digital and AI-enabled world. Massive datasets exist in firms and other repositories; meaningful, extractable insights exist within them. Students who study Business Analytics learn how to frame the right questions, select appropriate analytical and AI-driven techniques, and craft coherent, evidence-based stories from data.

Students use cutting-edge tools in analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to design and execute research and decision-making strategies. The curriculum includes coursework in data management, data and text mining, predictive analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence applications in business, visualization, unstructured data, and other advanced analytical techniques. Students also learn how to evaluate, deploy, and responsibly manage AI and information systems in organizational settings.

Graduates with these skills are in high demand across all functional areas—including HR, marketing, finance, accounting, IT, and consulting—and across a wide range of industries, where data-informed and AI-augmented decision making is rapidly becoming the norm.
