Construction Management (Minor)
The Minor in Construction Management prepares students for careers in the construction industry, specifically, for job opportunities as designers, construction managers, and contractors. They will develop an understanding of the technical, leadership, communication, and business skills needed to be successful in the construction industry. Within the minor, students will be exposed to courses from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (CEEES) and the School of Architecture (SoA) to help foster multidisciplinary learning and collaboration, which are often particularly useful on construction projects. The learning objectives for graduates of the minor include the ability to:
- identify suitable project delivery methods,
- apply the principles of construction in the areas of estimating and scheduling,
- use technology on construction projects such as BIM and CAD, and
- apply technical knowledge to differentiate and select means and methods of construction.
The minor in construction management is open to any student in the College of Engineering not pursuing a bachelor of science in civil engineering; as well as any student in the School of Architecture. Students will experience multi-disciplinary content focused on construction management and design techniques.

The minor consists of five courses: three core courses and two elective courses, totaling 15 credit hours related to construction management. The core classes provide foundational knowledge in the construction discipline and address the minor’s four learning objectives. Two elective classes supplement this foundation and offer students a broader range of topics related to construction management. The following is an initial list of courses offered within the minor:
