Peace Studies (Minor)
The Interdisciplinary Minor in Peace Studies requires successful completion of five (5) courses: the three required courses and two courses selected from a list of approved peace studies electives. The curriculum for the minor is:
Code | Title | Hours |
---|---|---|
Required Courses | ||
IIPS 20101 | Introduction to Peace Studies | 3 |
IIPS 33101 | Perspectives on Peacebuilding | 3 |
IIPS 43101 | Peace Studies Senior Seminar | 3 |
Peace Studies Electives | ||
2 IIPS Core or Support Electives | 6 | |
Total Hours | 15 |
Each required course is a pre-requisite for the next. Required courses may not be taken concurrently, although exceptions can be granted in rare cases. The senior seminar course may only be taken during the senior year. Elective courses may be completed at any point, and they may be taken concurrently with required courses.
Because the program takes a minimum of three semesters to complete, students are advised to take Introduction to Peace Studies as early as possible. Courses taken abroad count only as peace studies electives and may not substitute for any of the required courses.
