Chemistry/Computing (Major)

Students with a strong interest in the theoretical side of chemistry, may choose to pursue the chemistry with computing major. In addition to the standard chemistry curriculum, students complete a minimum of 15 additional credits of computational courses from the College of Science and the College of Engineering.

CHEM 23201 should be taken in the fall of sophomore year. Two additional chemistry seminars need to be taken by the end of senior year. Any combination of CHEM 23202 and/or CHEM 23203 can be taken to fulfill the requirement.  Only one seminar per semester is allowed.

3

MATH 10350MATH 10360 can be substituted for MATH 10550MATH 10560 with department approval.

4

Students in this program may attempt to register for the required CSE courses beginning in their sophomore year; however, due to course enrollment limitations, many students will not be able to get into a computing course until junior year.

5

Students must complete a minimum of 7.5 additional elective credits. This can be completed with only two additional courses; although, most students need to take 3 courses in order to maximize their elective options.
