The capstone project provides students with an opportunity to build upon and extend the work they have completed in fulfilling the requirements for the minor. Students may undertake this in one of three ways:
- Senior Research Seminar (ESS 43640) in fall semester of their senior year;
- Thesis in ESS (ESS 48100), an independent study completed over the course of senior year (1-credit ESS Thesis course in the fall semester, and a 2-credit ESS Thesis course in the spring semester of senior year); or
- A thesis in the student’s major department that incorporates the study of an educational issue into the research question (requires approval and a second reader from the Institute for Educational Initiatives). Students who choose the third option must take a fourth ESS elective to complete the minor.
